Our current Lords Coffee café has been a long time coming, but good things take time. Our founder Daniel, aka ‘Browny’, was previously well-known in the surfing community and for his eccentric personality that landed him appearances on TV and in Sydney’s fashion week. But when he moved to Newcastle eight years ago, he pivoted to customer service. He worked in five-star hotels for several years to ensure he could always provide the best experience. He opened a tiny café which got a great name for itself very quickly but ultimately didn’t work out due to landlord issues. Daniel helped other cafes build up until finding a new home for Lords Coffee five and a half years ago. Nicola joined him, and with her experience studying business at university and managing cafes in Hawaii, Lords Coffee went from strength to strength.
As we grew, we were able to hire more staff but stayed focused on one shop during the pandemic and began to offer our incredible coffee beans online so even more people could enjoy the Lords Coffee lifestyle. Browny and Nicola both lead busy and active lifestyles. Between surfing, running businesses and having two toddlers, they need plenty of energy - so good coffee is a great passion of theirs and they love to provide the perfect cup every time for customers.
We are your local coffee roasters in Newcastle. Our Newcastle café has a great reputation and a loyal customer base. If you pop in, you can meet our friendly team, admire our David Bowie mural, and maybe pick up a delicious chocolatey ‘browny’ to go with your coffee. We like to innovate, so we also offer ‘slappers’ with various fillings and we’re not ashamed to say we think they will be the best toasted sandwiches you’ve ever had. For those who like to Instagram their food, our bircher muesli alongside our special Newcastle coffee is perfect for a photoshoot.
We of course offer incredible coffee alongside the delicious food. Our signature blend is made up of ethically sourced coffee beans from Brazil and Colombia for a perfect rich smooth taste every time.
If you don’t have the time or money for regular café trips, we post out our incredible coffee beans across Newcastle. You can also pick up your order from our Newcastle café if you still want to see what the fuss is all about. If you don’t want to risk running out of coffee, we also offer coffee subscription options on our signature blend and decaf ground coffee options.
Everyone is different as to how they like their coffee, and how they make it. That’s why we give you the option to tell us what equipment you’re using at home. Whether you prefer to grind fresh for each cup and want whole beans, or you want it ready to load into your AeroPress we will grind the beans to suit.

We’ll post everything out to you if you’re not close enough to pick up your locally roasted coffee beans from our Newcastle café.
